Happy Hands School for the Deaf is inviting applications for Trainee Teacher positions. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about working with deaf children and have a strong command of Indian Sign Language (ISL). The positions available are as follows:

POST 1: Teaching Assistant (trainee):

• Work alongside the teaching staff and head teacher.
• Teach across various classes using innovative teaching approaches.
• This post is considered as on-the-job training.
• Engage in non-teaching activities designed as learning tasks.

POST2: Language Acquisition Assistant:

• Work with small kids to create a home-like language acquisition environment.
• Ensure age-appropriate ISL skills for the children.
• This position is part of an experimental phase, and candidates are expected to make an independent contribution to the project and be innovative.

POST 3: Sports and Physical Education Teacher:

• Teach sports and physical education with a focus on embedding learning in all activities.
• Prior experience and motivation in sports and fitness is needed; teaching experience in sports and physical education is preferred.

Qualifications and Requirements FOR ALL POSITIONS:

• Excellent native or near-native proficiency in Indian Sign Language (ISL) is the top qualifying criterion.
• Minimum educational qualification: 12th standard.
• Certification in learning programs such as DTISL, DISLI, D.ED, etc., is welcome but not mandatory for this contractual job.
• Experience working with deaf children in a sign language environment.
• There is no reservation or discrimination based on hearing status or any other criteria for qualification. We are an equal opportunity employer.
• All positions WILL START from July 15, 2023, and END May 15, 2024.
• Salary/stipend will be based on experience and skills, ranging from Rs 10,000 to 15,000 per month. Subsidized accommodation and meals will be provided on campus.
• We are a holistic learning campus and follow alternative educational practice. Often our activities are non-standard and we expect the candidate to be flexible to adjust to the new experience.
